A bit about me

I am from Glasgow but have now been living in North West Italy for 22 years; where I am a freelance English teacher and translator. I have always loved art and come from a very artistic family but it took me a long time to find my medium. I noticed coloured pencil art for the first time in 2018 at the “Open studios” on the Isle of Arran. I was entranced by the vibrancy of colour, the clarity and the precision of Lesley Van Bogerijen’s coloured pencil art and not long after that I bought my first set of prismacolor premiere artists’ coloured pencils. I was hooked, I had found my medium! My first drawings were on cheap sketch pad paper that my daughter used for school and it was only when I joined the UK coloured pencil society in early 2019 that I started learning about different materials and techniques.

It’s been a joyous ride and a steep learning curve since then, culminating in being awarded “Best Newcomer” in the UKCPS 17th World of Coloured Pencils Exhibition 2020 (above) for my piece “Amore e Psiche” (below) which also featured in the June 2020 edition of Ann Kullberg’s “Color” magazine.

Since then I have started concentrating more on drawing animals and have recently started a series of drawings of beloved pets or favourite animals for children with ME/CFS, which my daughter suffers from. Go to For Children with ME/CFS to see the drawings and read about the kids.

I am also happy to take commissions for animal portraits, please contact me for details of sizes, materials and prices.
